"this grand show is eternal. it is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never all dried at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor ever rising. eternal sunrise, eternal sunset, eternal dawn and gloaming, on seas and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls." -john muir

2200 (10:00p)
as we wrap up classes on the mv explorer, books and laptops are everywhere. it seems as though every corner of the ship has turned into a study center as everyone prepares for the upcoming exams. i have been one of those students, preferring the quiet 5th deck dining hall over the noisy 6th floor; i just need to be able to focus, with as little distraction as possible.
after global studies i worked on some papers and ate lunch with rennika before dashing upstairs for my unh course registration. i have signed up for some interesting courses and i'm excited to see how they turn out. i used the reminder of my 2 hour time period to search for jobs in the area; from nannying to secretarial work at yale, i looked and applied for almost everything. while i would love to spend my days making coffee and serving bagels, i fear those days are over in favor of more relative job experience.
i ate dinner with my on-ship family tonight and i've determined that i will really miss them! the whole bunch, gary, kathy, maddie and harry are a great time and i enjoy hearing about their adventures. maddie and harry have to go back to school after the voyage is over, and they are not looking forward to it! their summer plans include a trip to see family in colorado, lots of baseball for harry and new baby goats for maddie. she raises them for her 4h club. they sound like so much fun! mom.. can i have a baby goat?!
i just spent the last few hours reviewing for our upcoming, cumulative, global studies final which is on saturday. it's never to early to start studying!
nothing else too exciting to report; i'm off to edit my papers and print them for class tomorrow. i cant wait to be done with all the work so that i can enjoy the last few weeks on the ship!
we lose another hour tonight, therefore are four hours behind the east coast. we're creeping up on the east coast!
happy earth day!!

Emma is the size of a goat? You can pretend when you are visiting!
"Perchanu" It is what the birds get when you put up a new bird house...
Love Aunt D
baby goats are a-dorable. my sociology teacher in high school raised goats and we all went out to her farm the week of graduation and got to play with the babies. when they bleat, they sound like human babies crying. it's really odd. and their eyes were BLUE with funny little rectangular pupils. odd little critters. i think a goat would be a very practical dorm pet, though... you'd never have to vacuum again and you'd have a great excuse for showing up without homework. heheh. have fun on the last leg of your marvelous journey; i will miss reading about your adventures, but i know it'll be so good to be home on solid ground :) this semester has FLOWN for me, i can't imagine what you must be feeling at this point! so, i HAVE to see you this summer. you heard aunt teresa-- even if i can't make it up there, we have plenty of room at home... i know tennessee's not THAT great to a weathered world-traveler, but it would be lots of fun :D love you and miss you and hope you're having a ball (which, if i'm not mistaken, you will LITERALLY be doing here very soon... haha)!
abrazos y besos,
caroline
HEEWARG.....only the best word EVER! It really just makes me laugh...i'm a little HEEWARG short and stout...and so it goes. HEEWARG of the day is.....
But ANYWAY!! The backyard is almost officially complete - and therefore demands that you come see it - i mean, if you can go all around the world, couldn't you get to tennysee? Two turns past the HEEWARG and straight on until Nashville.....
Now, about this goat thang - honey, unless you want every pair of shoes and every purse you ever owned to go up in spit, forget it! They ARE adorable, but HUNGRY - you get me drift? Only thing worse is a pig, which will eat YOU if it gets a notion. SOOO, goats are a baaaaaahd idea. Plus, you can't even ride them. If (WHEN) you come visit, I can take you to a place about 5 miles from here that has a whole hill full of goats of all sizes and colors and shapes. They are a hoot.
Baby shower decorating and getting ready tomorrow - nothing better than a baby shower in the spring! It's a BOY, by the way - his name will be Joshua William - sweet! Also, Caro is coming in, as i told you yesterday?, to help and get her hair cut ~ she will be a great help and I am excited to see her!
Picked up some flowers and herbs to plant this weekend, so Spring is most certainly here. Love fresh herbs - they were hard to find this year?!! Weird....I lost all mine to the "redo", so it will be good to have them to cook with again!
Off to feed the doggies - yet ANOTHER reason to get yourself down here - love you and your face, but you know that! HEEWARG HO!! TTYS!! Aunt T
