i woke up to the smell of india.
its like when you smell new york city for the first time, it tickles your nose and you can't tell if it's a good smell or a bad smell. like dirt, sewage, car emissions, train tracks, the subway, big buildings &a lot of people.
out the window i cannot see much.
i can see a jetty and some big container ships.
not much else is visible through the smog.
i'm in india, here we go.

You are so right, there is a certain smell to a city. :)

ahhh india!! have so much fun and can't wait to hear all about it!
love love love!
HOLA!! WE HAVE RETURNED FROM UA!!! Caroline says hello - she is on her way to New Orleans today for the ATO formal, and is most excited. She said yesterday that the last time she checked up on you, you were OMOSSENE(pronounced OMOSSIN) India. Welp, I guess now you have arrived? This is the first time that I recall that you have spoken of a particular "smell". Cities are just like giant houses - you know how everyone's house has a distinct odor? Same thing! Did you see any stretch OMOSSENES with celebrities in the streets? That's stretching it, yes?
The house seems inordinately quiet b/c we haven't gone to pick up the puppies yet. I won't lie, I'm kind of enjoying it - but i wouldn't give them up for anything. They tickle my funny bone. We will go pick them up after my eye appt this afternoon - OMOSSENE 3 hours.
I cannot wait to hear about your Indian Adventure - all the sights sounds smells and foods and of course the SHOPPING!! Love your Will Durant quote by the way;) If it were true, visiting india should be mandatory for ALL!
Love you sweet cheeks!! Aunt T
